Neotigason (Acitretin) comes in the form of capsules, which should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. This drug is only used to treat severe skin conditions when treatment with other medications has proven unsuccessful. You will most likely be under the supervision of a dermatologist while undergoing treatment with this drug. When you start taking this drug, you may be told to take it for 2 to 4 weeks. After this initial period of treatment, your physician may need to alter your dose, depending on how you respond to treatment. You may be told to take it for another 6 to 8 weeks.
