Collosol Iodine Oral (Colloidal Iodine) contains iodine, which is required by the thyroid to produce hormones. It is normally prescribed to patients suffering from thyroid imbalance. Thyroid imbalance can cause unusual weight loss or gain, tiredness, muscular weakness, loss of hair, fluid retention, problems with concentration or constipation.
Eltroxin (Levothyroxine) is prescribed as a treatment for hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid). An underactive thyroid can cause loss of hair, sensitivity to cold, fatigue, poor growth and other symptoms. These symptoms are usually caused by a lack of thyroid hormone.
Neo-Mercazole (Carbimazole) is used to treat an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). It works by reducing the production of hormones by the thyroid gland, thereby helping the thyroid function to return to normal. This drug may also be used to decrease the amount of thyroid hormones prior to surgery or treatment with radioactive iodine.
Thyronorm (Thyroxine Sodium) contains the active ingredient thyroxine sodium, which is the same as the hormone that is naturally produced by the thyroid gland. It is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), a condition in which the thyroid does not produce enough thyroid hormones. It works by replacing the thyroxine which would normally be produced by the thyroid gland.
Tri-Iodo-Tironina (Liotironina Sodica) contains the active ingredient, Liotironina Sodica, which is also known as Liothyronine sodium, and is a thyroid hormone. It is used to replace or supplement natural thyroid hormones in the body in patients suffering from a condition known as hypothyroidism, in which the thyroid does not produce sufficient thyroid hormones.
Valparin (Sodium Valproate) is used to treat epilepsy. It is an anti-convulsant, which helps to stabilize abnormal electrical activity in the brain. This can help to prevent and control seizures. Other uses include treating anxiety, bipolar disorder, migraine headaches and other conditions. Studies have also been conducted on the effects of this drug on the thyroid gland.
