What is Arava (Leflunomide) used for?

Arava (Leflunomide) is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This drug belongs to a class of medications known as disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), which work by helping to reduce swelling and damage to the joints while also improving physician functioning. This drug may also be given to patients who have had an organ transplant, to prevent the transplant from being rejected.
