Patients taking Carafate (Sucralfate) tablets should follow the instructions provided to them by their physician. You may be told to take it 4 times per day, before eating and at bedtime. Be sure to take it at least 1 hour before a meal, or 2 hours after. It is important to note that it can take up to 8 weeks for an ulcer to heal.
