This drug works by binding phosphorus from food and prevents the blood stream from absorbing it. The reduction of phoshporus levels may help the patient's bones remain strong, and may also reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. How should I use Foseal (Sevelamer HCL)? Foseal (Sevelamer HCL) tablets should be taken orally, usually three times per day with meals. You should follow the instructions of your physician when taking this medication, and continue to take it unless your physician tells you otherwise. What are the side effects of Foseal (Sevelamer HCL)? When taking Foseal (Sevelamer HCL) you may notice some side effects, such as: You should be aware that this drug may also cause more serious side effects which require you to consult your physician immediately. Serious side effects include bloody stools, severe constipation or fever.
