What is Graniset-1 (Granisetron) used for?

Graniset-1 (Granisetron) prevents nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing cancer treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This drug is also given to patients who have undergone surgery to prevent nausea and vomiting. It works by inhibiting the action of a certain chemical (serotonin). Serotonin may trigger vomiting and nausea. By inhibiting its action, this drug helps to reduce nausea and vomiting.

How should I use Graniset-1 (Granisetron)?

Graniset-1 (Granisetron) tablets should be taken by mouth, exactly as directed by your physician. Patients undergoing chemotherapy are sometimes told to take this drug 1 hour before they begin chemotherapy. A second dose is sometimes taken 12 hours after the first dose. Follow the instructions of your physician. If you are undergoing radiotherapy, you may be told to take it 1 hour before beginning radiotherapy.
