What is Neurontin (Gabapentin) used for?

Neurontin (Gabapentin) is an anticonvulsant which is given to patients with epilepsy to treat seizures. This drug may also be used to treat nerve pain caused by shingles, or to treat other conditions, including diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia, restless leg syndrome and peripheral neuropathy.

How should I use Neurontin (Gabapentin)?

Neurontin (Gabapentin) capsules should be taken orally, exactly as directed by your physician. You should only take the amount prescribed to you by your physician, and take the medication at the same time every day. Some patients may be told to take it 3 times per day. If your physician has told you to take it 3 times per day, you should ensure that you don't allow more than 12 hours pass in between doses.

What are the side effects of Neurontin (Gabapentin)?

Some side effects of Neurontin (Gabapentin) include:

  • Inflammation of the feet or legs
