What is Zarontin (Ethosuximide) used for?

Zarontin (Ethosuximide) is a type of anticonvulsant medication which is used to control absence seizures (seizures during which somebody stares straight ahead or blinks their eyes but is unresponsive to others). This drug works by decreasing the abnormal activity in the brain that causes seizures.

How should I use Zarontin (Ethosuximide)?

Zarontin (Ethosuximide) comes in the form of a capsule which should be swallowed whole, usually once or more per day. You should follow the instructions provided to you by your physician. Your physician may occasionally increase your dosage, but usually not more than once every 4 to 7 days. Continue taking this medication unless told otherwise by your physician.
