What is Allersoothe (Promethazine HCL) used for? Allersoothe Promethazine Hydrochloride) is an antihistamine that is used to treat the symptoms of allergies such as itchiness, runny nose, sneezing or watery eyes. It is also used to help prevent motion sickness, as well as treating nausea and pain occurring as a result of surgery. This drug works by helping to change the actions of certain chemicals in the brain, while also acting as an antihistamine. How should I use Allersoothe (Promethazine HCL)? Allersoothe (Promethazine Hydrochloride) tablets should be taken orally. Adult patients are sometimes directed to take 1 tablet 4 times per day. You should always consult your physician before taking this medication so that the correct dosage can be prescribed to you. If this medication is being taken for motion sickness, you should take 1 tablet 30 to 60 minutes before travelling, and if another dose is required, it can be taken 8 to 12 hours later, or as directed by your physician. When this medication is being taken before surgery, it is usually taken the night before surgery, or immediately before the procedure, and repeated as directed by your physician. As this medication may be unsafe for certain patients, it is essential you always inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as if you have any allergies, other illnesses, or ongoing health conditions, especially heart disease, glaucoma, hypertension, liver problems or stomach problems, and if you are taking any other form of medication, supplements, or herbal products. This medication should never be used in children under 2 years, as this may cause potentially fatal slow breathing to occur.
