How does Carloc (Carvedilol) work:
Carloc (Carvedilol) can be used to help manage high blood pressure and prevent heart failure. It can also increase the chances of survival for patients who have recently had a heart attack. It is an alpha and beta blocker that is non selective, it can be used on its own or combined with certain other anti hypertensive medicines. It helps by blocking certain chemicals reducing heart strain which allows it to recover more effectively.
Dosage & Administration:
Patients should take Carloc (Carvedilol) as prescribed by their physician to avoid unwanted side effects. Do not alter your prescription without first consulting your physician.
Patients are commonly advised to take this medicine twice daily alongside a meal or snack. The patient is usually advised to take the medicine at the same time each day.
Side Effects:
Some common side effects may include the following:
- Feeling dizzy (mild)
- Changes in weight (possibly gaining) and abnormal vision
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Hypotension
- Hypoglycemia
- Asthenia
Serious symptoms that might require immediate medical attention include the following:
- Perspiring more than normal
- Swelling, itchiness, rashes, troubles breathing or swallowing
- Painful chest
- Feeling very dizzy, weak or faint
- Seizures
- Changes in heartbeat (might be slow or irregular)
- Changes in mood, thirst, hunger and/or urination (frequency and quantity)
- Bruising or bleeding easier than usual
- Toes and fingers changing in color - blue
- Tingling or numb sensation
Precautions:
Before taking Carloc (Carvedilol) always inform your physician if any of the following apply to you.
- If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Any allergies and their severity
- Any respiratory conditions such as asthma
- You have diabetes (this drug may hide hypoglycemia, so close monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential)
- If you have any problems related to the heart, thyroid, kidney, muscles, or you have a tumor
- Any circulation problems
- Any mood or mental disorders/conditions
It is recommended you refrain from driving or operating any potentially dangerous machinery until you
are fully aware of the severities of your side effects, as the medication can cause you to become dizzy
and drowsy. Alcohol can worsen these side effects and the effects of drinking alcohol may also be heightened by
this Drug. Speak to your physician for more information. Tell your surgeon, physician or dentist you are using this drug before undergoing any form of surgery as
other medicines may interfere or interact with Carloc (Carvedilol).
