It is a fourth generation cephalosporin type antibiotic which is considered to be effective in treating infections which are sensitive to cefpirome, infections of the lower respiratory tract, upper and lower urinary tract infections, infections which affect the skin and soft tissue. It may also be given to patients in intensive care to treat infections.
