Double Advantage (Imidacloprid/Permethrin) solution is applied directly to the dog's skin, as directed by the prescribing vet. It is normally applied 1 to 2 times per month. This product is available in four different strengths, with the strength required dependent on the dog's weight. There is one for dogs that weight up to 4kg (approximately 9lbs), one for dogs weighing 4kg to 10kg (9lbs to 22lbs), one for dogs weighing 10kg to 25kg (22lbs to 55lbs)and another one for dogs weighing more than 25kg (roughly 55lbs). Ask your vet if you are not sure. To apply it to your dog, you should pull the hair apart, and empty the contents of the pipette onto the dog's skin. For small dogs weighing 22lbs or less, you may empty the entire contents onto one spot, behind the dog's neck. However, bigger dogs will require emptying the contents of one pipette onto 4 different spots along the dog's back. The vet will instruct you on how to properly administer it. Although this product remains effective if the dog is exposed to water, exposure to water for a prolonged period of time should be avoided.
