Epi-Otic Ear and Skin Cleanser (Lactic Acid/Salicylic Acid) helps to treat otitis externa (ear infection) in dogs and cats by cleansing and drying the ear canals, and removing excess dirt and crusting. It may also be used together with other treatments for ear infections. This product is mild and does not irritate the ears. It contains no alcohol or chlorhexidine. The active ingredients in this solution include 2.1% lactic acid and 0.1% salicylic acid.

How should I use Epi-Otic Ear and Skin Cleanser (Lactic Acid/Salicylic Acid)?

Epi-Otic Ear and Skin Cleanser (Lactic Acid/Salicylic Acid) comes in the form of a liquid solution, and is available in 4oz (120ml), 8oz (237ml) and 16oz (500ml) sizes. A few drops of this solution should be applied directly into the animal's ear canal as directed by the prescribing vet. After you apply it to the ear canal, you should gently massage the vertical canal for 20 seconds. This will help to ensure that the ear is properly cleaned. You may then massage the fluid up the animal's ear canal, removing excess fluid at the ear canal with cotton wool (do not use cotton swabs), and you may also clean the ear flap on the inside. Repeat this until the excess fluid is no longer dirty, after which you may clean the other ear.

The vet may tell you to apply this solution to your animal once per month, as this can help to keep your animal's ears healthy. However, owners of animals suffering from ear conditions may be told by the vet to clean the animal's ears twice per week, or possibly on a daily basis. Follow the instructions of the vet.
