What is Galamer (Galantamine) used for?

Galamer (Galantamine) is given to patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease to help improve memory, and the ability to think and may also slow down the process of losing these functions. The active ingredient in this drug belongs to a class of medications known as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, which increase the quantity in the brain of a natural chemical required for thought and memory functions. This may help to treat some of the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

How should I use Galamer (Galantamine)?

Galamer (Galantamine) tablets should be taken orally. You may be told to take them twice pear day, usually once in the mooring, and again in the evening, with food, unless told otherwise by your physician. You should drink plenty of water when taking this medication, unless told to do otherwise. It is possible that your physician may start you out on a low dosage, which may then be gradually increased. The maximum daily dose is 24mg.
