How should I use Maxalt Melt (Rizatriptan Benzoate)? Maxalt Melt (Rizatriptan Benzoate) comes in the form of soluble wafers, which are placed onto the tongue, and dissolved by saliva. This medication should be taken at the first sign of a headache or migraine attack. If the medication provides only partial relief, or if your migraine comes back, you may take one more dose two hours after the first dose. Do not exceed 30mg in 24 hours. This medication should only be used to treat migraine headaches, and patients should only use this medication if their condition has been confirmed by a physician as being caused by migraine.
