What is Rhinocort Aqua Spray (Budesonide) used for?

Rhinocort Aqua Spray (Budesonide) is used in the treatment and prevention of the symptoms of allergies, such as runny nose, itchiness, nasal congestion and sneezing. It is also commonly used to help prevent the return of nasal polyps after surgery to remove them. This drug is a corticosteroid, which works by helping to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.

How should I use Rhinocort Aqua Spray (Budesonide)?

Butacort Nasal Spray (Budesonide) is administered by spraying it directly into the nostril. Before using this spray, patients should gently blow their nose. The nozzle may then be inserted into the nostril and the prescribed amount of sprays delivered. After spraying, patients should not blow their nose for 15 minutes. Adult patients are sometimes directed to administer 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril once or twice per day, however this dosage may vary depending on the condition being treated. Patients should always consult their physician before using this medication so that the correct dosage can be prescribed to them. Some patients may notice the benefits of using this medication 1 to 2 days after use, however it must be noted that it may take up to 2 weeks for the full effects of this medication to be felt.

What are the side effects of Rhinocort Aqua Spray (Budesonide)?

Some side effects which may occur as a result of using Butacort Nasal Spray (Budesonide) include:

• Irritation of the nose
• Dryness in the throat
• Sneezing and coughing
• White patches or sores occurring in or around the patient's nose
• Nosebleeds

Patients are advised to consult their physician immediately should any of these side effects persist or worsen, or if they notice a change in their sense of smell or taste, sores that won't heal, persistent nose bleeding, shortness of breath, changes in their vision or symptoms of fever.
