What is Susten (Progesterone) used for? Susten (Progesterone) contains progesterone, which is a female sex hormone. This gel is used to treat infertility caused by an inadequate luteal phase and insufficient production of progesterone. It is also used in assisted reproduction, during in vito fertilization (IVF), to expand the cervix or to help maintain a pregnancy. How should I use Susten (Progesterone)? Susten (Progesterone) comes in prefilled applicators. The gel is applied directly to the inside of the vagina, using the applicator provided. Your physician will tell you the required dosage, and will also tell you when to start treatment, and for how long treatment is required. Patients are usually told to apply it 1 to 2 times per day.
