What is Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene) used for?

Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene) contains fipronil, a pesticide which is used to kill adult fleas and ticks that infest pets. It also contains S-Methoprene, which kills the eggs and larvae of fleas and ticks, thereby helping to break the life cycle of these pests. There is a formula available specifically for treating cats, and there are also different strengths of this solution available which are suitable for treating dogs of different sizes. This solution is effective, and kills fleas within 12 hours of it being applied. It is also waterproof, and suitable for use on animals that are older than 8 weeks.

How should I use Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene)?

Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene) should be applied to the animal's skin, exactly as directed by the prescribing vet. This product comes as a solution specifically used for treating either dogs or cats. Heavier dogs usually require a larger dosage than smaller dogs. The 0.67ml pipettes are usually suitable for use on dogs weighing 22lbs or less. There are also different doses for dogs weighing 23lbs to 44lbs, 45lbs to 88lbs and another one for dogs 89lbs or over. Ask the vet which one is required to treat your dog.

To apply it, you should first remove the applicator from the protective packaging, and snap the top off the applicator. Be sure to hold it in an upright position when doing this. Choose an area on the back of the neck where the animal will not be able to lick. Part the animal's coat, and place the applicator's tip on the skin of the animal, and squeeze. You should empty the entire contents of the applicator onto the skin of your pet. Once applied, this treatment lasts for one month. However, some conditions require it to be applied more frequently. Ask the vet for more details.

What are the side effects of Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene)?

Frontline Plus (Fipronil/S-Methoprene) is considered to be safe for use on most animals. Some pets may show signs of discomfort or irritation at the application site. Owners are advised to take their pet to a vet if it exhibits any signs of an adverse reaction.
